At A Loss

If the current version of my favorite team doesn't give a rats ass to play with so much on the line, then I don't give a rats ass to write about them.

It's sickening. I will never get the lack of focus, desire or passion, from the top down.

As much as it pains me, I predict a one-and-done followed, yet again, by a long offseason with a search for a new coach.

This team is in DIRE need of a heart transplant.

I have to echo Mike's thoughts on this one... I don't even know what to say about this team. All we have to look towards is (hopefully) a new head coach and the 2007 draft. I am as disappointed as I have ever been with the Cowboy's.

What a great day!

The snow was fresh,
the weather sunny and 40 degrees,
the lines at the ski lift weren't too bad.
What could possibly make this better?

How about a loss to a turd of a team?
Excellent!

Wait a sec and think about this one.

We play the Seahawks in Round 1.
We'll likely have a much better chance of success in Seattle than against a Philly team which is CLEARLY hitting on all cylinders.

Remember, Seattle has issues right now, too. They won their division by default, given the talent they played against. And they couldn't do so until Week 15.

So yes, they too have deficiencies on both sides of the ball. This is good news.

I say LET the Gi'nts and the Uggles weed each other out of the picture. Sure, it would have been nice to get a Bye for the first round, but that was unlikely as of December 7. So odd as it may seem, this could very well be a blessing in disguise.

Rose-colored-glasses in Lubbock?
YOU BET!
But I'd MUCH rather play the west-coast birds than the east-coat birds right now.

I love your optimism, but I see no way, with this defense, that we win on Saturday.

As mentioned before, Sean Payton was here for 3 years and he knew how much of a mirage this defense was.

His gameplan exposed Zimmer and his defense as a fraud and provided the league with a blueprint to kill the Cowboys.

We are the perfect elixir for an offense with problems.

Holmgren must be secretly salivating to play us.

Yeah, I'm no fool, I see the writing on the wall as much as you (and Holmgren).

But I also see this game as the BEST possible post-season matchup for the Cowboys, a luxury we would not enjoy had we beaten the Lions.

My reasoning:
Holmgren is inventive and smart enough to exploit weaknesses, defintitely. But he's more old-school than either Payton, Martz or Reid. That makes his team more predictable, thus more defense-able.

Innovation in the passing game has been our achilles heel for the last month more than anything. Holmgren was once a master of this, but he's lost a bit the last couple of years, riding Alexander's legs and woeful division opponents to quite a bit of success.

This year Alexander hasn't been quite the same work horse, and I venture to say we'll give the 'Hawks a better fight than Arizona did.

From this angle- your thoughts?

I get your point that of the lot, the Seahawks might be the most favorable matchup for us. They're limping and like us, they backed into the playoffs.

But again, the freaking Lions looked like Air Coryell against us, and although Holmgren has been using Alexander's legs for the past few years, he's still considered an offensive stalwart.

He'll make Zimmer and Parcells look like Pee-Wee coaches, UNLESS they FINALLY break from their predictable ways.

I've waited for 3 years for them to do it, and I just don't think it'll happen now.

Oh, yeah.

I momentarily forgot Parcells game-plans are as predictable as Taco Bell heartburn.
Yikes.

This means we must now pray for absolutely perfect execution on each individual play from each individual player.
Double Yikes.

Maybe we should pray Hasselbeck will get a papercut Saturday morning?
