8-4

• Romo on the pass to Witten? Wow. Just wow. Romo didn't have his greatest game, but under the spotlight with a ton of pressure, he came through. Just another sign that he may be the real deal.

• Barber looks to have taken over as the lead back. As much of a supporter of Julius' as I am, I'm beginning to think that Parcells has coached the playmaker right out of him. His rookie year, he looked for holes everywhere. Now, he never considers the cutback or running to daylight. He runs scared - not of opposing players, but of Parcells.

• T.O. His drops are getting very hard to take.

• Defense looked horrible. No pressure AT ALL. This same team made one Manning look horrible and the other look like a Hall of Famer - but not in the way most would think. Zero pressure. Here are a few players that didn't look so good:

— Bradie James had an awful game. Poor coverage, poor tackling. I know he's the "leader" of the defense, but today he didn't lead by example.

— Isn't Marcus Spears a first round pick?

— Wasn't Chris Canty supposed to be the steal of the draft?

• Won't bag on Roy this week. He was not a problem.

• Martin Grammatica was big on the last kick. Not sure Vanderjagt would have made that kick. In fact, pretty sure he would have pushed it right - again.

• Big, big win. To win a close division game like this was enormous.

• I really like Romo. It's good to be able to trust the QB again.

A squeaker, yes.
An imperfect, UGLY win, yes.

But a win is a WIN, yes? YES!!!

We played a fired-up, hungry, ANGRY, wounded-animal (thnx Shawn) that was hitting on all cylinders, Personal Fouls notwithstanding. The Giants D came to play.

Let's not nit-pick here, we didn't look great, but this has gotta be the biggest game we've played since Quincy Carter stood under center in the playoffs,
and we won.
'Nuff said.

Moving forward:
May be premature to start looking "downfield" at this point, but I see two potential booby-traps in the remainder of the schedule.

New Orleans scares me, four reasons:
1. Drew Brees' current season-long hot streak is making his receiving corps look like superstars, and our secondary will have it's collective hands full,
2. our LB's will have their hands full spying on Reggie Bush, limiting what help they can provide to the CBs and Safeties and potentially hindering our blitz,
3. it stands to reason Payton spent more time studying Tuna while he was in D than vice-versa. Payton's familiarity with Parcells tendencies therefore gives the Saints a head-start even before the kickoff,
4. the Saints current lineup consists of more than a handful of former Cowboys (on BOTH sides of the ball: Terrance Copper, Rob Pettiti, Scott Fujita, Scott Shanle, Billy Cundiff) who will be more than happy to share anything they gleaned during their time in Dallas practicing with and against #9.

Atlanta scares me
Vick? NO, let him run around 'til he pulls a hammy.
Besides, his W-receivers can't catch a cold in a day-care (hands like feet! thnx MT).

Crumpler is the concern, as we evidently are prone to letting TE's have their way with us. Wanna move the chains against Zimmer? Think "fade to the TE". Luckily we don't play SD or KC any time soon.
Think we'll see 94 in coverage this weekend?

On a good note, I read last week one professional prognosticator predicts the 'Boys winning-out until they go to Chicago for the NFC Championship. Of course, if Grossman keeps up his bi-polar play that game could happen under the Hole in the Roof!

Agreed... New Orleans really scares me. They are really balanced on offense.

Payton studying Parcells more that Parcells studying Payton is a great point.

That said, if Zimmer/Parcells continue their passive ways, we might be in trouble, but if we revert to the Colts/Bucs games of defense, we'll be OK.

He definitely knows Parcells tendencies.

If the game were played in N.O., I'd be much more concerned, but I really think we're on a roll.

My two favorite posts on Matt Moseley's blog today:

1. After Sunday's game, Romo consoled another Manning brother, telling Eli something along the lines of, "Hang in there, kid."

Hee hee!
That's great, coming from a guy with 6 whole starts!

2. You recall Plaxico Burress describing Roy Williams as a "250-pound ankle-tackler". On Sunday, Burress kept hitting safety Keith Davis after the whistle.

Asked why Burress opted for Davis over Williams, Terrance Newman said "Because he's not stupid".

Hee hee!
That may be the smartest thing Burress has ever done.
